Evaluation: Overall Experience
If i could go back and do more to my magazine i probably wouldn't change much because i am happy with it. I would probably try different layouts or fonts etc but i wouldn't change anything drastic. Overall i am pleased with the outcome of this magazine task and that includes the research and the final product. I most enjoyed the research side of it because it was nice to have other people's opinions and experimenting with genres, layouts etc. I think i kept to my time well, some times it was a bit of a rush but other times i was ahead- it all depended on how confident i felt with the task. I am happy with the outcome of my product and have enjoyed this experience very much.
Evaluation: Organisation
Time
One of the first things i created was a time chart on Toms planner. This really helped because i made deadlines that were the real ones as well as personal deadlines. It help me keep on track and not having no panics over unfinished work that was supposed to be in.

Models
I had to organise my models and for this the one that was the most daunting was the outside shoot with the female model as i wanted the weather to be really nice. Luckily it was on the day we arranged and the weather was clear as well for my male model. It wasn't hard getting my models free as they were free on the day i suggested and also with my main model we took the pictures in school time while she was in my lesson so that was easy.
Myself
It was hard keeping to the time plan because i'm not usually good with time at all so i had to make sure that i did keep to it not to be rushing anything or missing anything out. I knew that the important things were photos, final drafts and research so i had to make sure these were priorities as they involved a lot of work that i couldn't necessary do on my own computer at home.
Evaluation:Representation
My intended audience was teenage girls between the ages of 14-19. This is the age where many girls find who they are and how they would like to express themselves. I think my magazine gave off a positive attitude for girls who are of an indie style because all my models are dressed appropiately and with their own style. Also, nothing is mentioned in the magazine that would be seen as 'immoral' etc so this gives off a good representation of girls in this social group.

As you can see from my final product the main story is about Amelia talking about making it into the music buisness and her career which many girls may look up to. This contradicts with other social groups that may buy music magazines such as VIBE because the girls are made to look sexually attractive throughout their clothes, model positions and the stories.

Evaluation: Institutions
IPC who own NME i think would hire me because they do a wide range of magazines from Rugby World to Marie Claire. They seem to have several different magazines from each category so having mine running next to NME would be good because it would be a different genre of indie as it is targeted towards teenage girls.IPC also reaches two thirds of women in the UK so that is a good majority to have as some of them could be my targeted audience.
IPC also distrubute their magazines in popular shops such as Asda, Sainsburys and Tesco's which would offer my magazine to a broader audience. They also place magazines in certain shops that relate to the genre of them. For example, my music magazine might be seen in HMV as it is a music shop.
Evaluation: Audience
My intended audience for my magazine was teenage girls of the ages 14-19. Not only did i have to make sure that my magazine appealed to that age bracket but i had to make sure that they liked the indie genre. I had to appeal to both things- age and genre- by doing research.
Being unsure when i first started on what genre i wanted my magazine to be i realised i would have to research into genres that most appealed to me- pop, rock and indie. I researched into this by looking into magazines which were on the market relating to the specified genre. I then created mind maps to put all my ideas down which came into my head about the genre and this helped me decide on which one i most wanted to do- indie.

I also did a questionnaire to get background knowledge on music magazines as i wasn't confident and didn't think i had enough knowledge personally to create one. I needed help with certain things such as font, names and also whether buying magazines was popular anymore as of such influences like the internet. The questionnaire also helped me to actually speak to people that would be of the intended audince and get their views. This then helped because i was getting information straight from where i needed it.

As you can see in my magazine it runs throughout with the red highlighting things that i want to attract the attention of my audience.

Colour Scheme
In my questionnaire the colour scheme that people liked the most was black, white and red. I personally liked the red colour that would be standing out to the black and the white. This is shown in many magazines such as 'Q'.
As you can see in my magazine it runs throughout with the red highlighting things that i want to attract the attention of my audience.
Photos
In my mind maps i knew that i wanted outside and inside shoots, taking advantage of all different links from the indie genre. You can see this through my photos. My main images being in the
studio using the white background and my other ones being outside
giving that original indie/hippy feel.
I also attracted my audience by using direct address with my main image on the front cover. As of no other pictures on it i think it is appealing because my model is the only one that is focused on. Running throughout my magazine most of the pictures have direct adress except one which is of the male model which is purposely positioned that way.
Costumes
No other magazine genre would have models dressed like mine so i think that this attracts the audience because it might be what they wear or would like to wear. Also the costumes range from what you might find in a shop (main model) to a more 'personal style' found with the second female model. This attracts the audience because it helps them relate to one of the models more and gives a personal relationship between audience and magazine.

Stories
You can see clearly from the front cover and contents page that the magazine is not a R&B magazine etc by the information that would be my inside stories. I tried to pick famous bands that would appeal to my genre and subjects such as winning the tickets for Glastonbury. This also attracts my intended audience.
